MEDIEVAL MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL
Returns to Streatham Rookery
As the sun shines high in the sky, on the Saturday 14th June 2014 from 12noon to 6pm, Brave Knights and Bold Heroines will celebrate Midsummer at the largest Medieval Festival in South West London.
They will gather for this fun filled family event, now in its third year, in the beautiful and panoramic settings of The Rookery at the top of Streatham Common, (Sat Nav SW16 3XB, Public Transport/Access & Free Parking).
Once again Peterkin the Jester will lead the merriment throughout the day, and take center stage at 2.30pm for his extremely hilarious and entertaining show. His stilt walking, juggling and fire-eating antics are not to be missed. Peterkin is a jester of international repute (www.peetcooper.co.uk) – He specializes in presenting entertainment with a genuinely authentic medieval flavour for a wide variety of historical venues and events, bringing his unique style of historical comedy to events across the country. In 2005 Peterkin was awarded the title of English Heritage National Jester.
Tri-Archery will be back again also this year with their immensely popular archery range (open from 12-5pm). Giving the young (and the not so young) Robin Hoods & Maid Marians the opportunity to see how they would have feared as a Medieval marksmen.
Visitors will be able to enjoy music and dancing on “The Village Green” with singer songwriter The Umbrellabirds and singing and folk dancing from the pupils of the School.
There will be plenty of shopping opportunities to discover treasures with a wide array of high-quality craft and contemporary market traders stalls, as well as stalls selling refreshments such as Jerk BBQ, Cakes & World Deli Delights plus The Pimms® Tavern.
Plenty to do for the children, Little Farm will return again with their cute animals to cuddle, plus other wonderful activities such as The Enchanted Wood, Story Telling, CraftActivities, Face-painting and much more.
Many activities are free with others reasonably priced (from £1) to enable maximum benefit for all ages.
There will also be a Raffle on the day with the opportunity to win fantastic prizes including, a weekend in Paris, Medieval Banquet ticket for 2, Brindisa Spanish Food voucher and many more .
